Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr., better known as "Stormzy" was born in Croydon, outer London, on July 26th 1993. He became involved in the UK underground music grime scene releasing his debut EP Dreamers Disease independently in July 2014. Stormzy began to get wider exposure during 2015 via "BBC Introducing top 5" and when he performed "Shut Up" during British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua's ring-walk for his fight versus Dillian Whyte. Following a years "hiatus" in 2016 in late February 2017 he released the album Gang Signs & Prayer which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart on 3 March 2017. Stormzy headlined Glastonbury's Pyramid stage in 2019 . Stormzy is well known for his political stance. He has described himself as "a child of grime" influenced by the likes of Wiley and Skepta, He is widely credited with introducing Grime to a much wider audience and for being willing to help other artists get a foothold in the music industry.
