Formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, by guitarist/vocalist Johnny Rzeznik, bassist/vocalist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska, Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band variously described as post grunge, alternative rock, and pop rock. Their major comercial success began in the late 1990's with the singles "Iris" and "Slide" ...... In October 2012, "Iris" was ranked #1 on Billboard's "Top 100 Pop Songs 1992–2012" chart, which also featured "Slide" (ranking at #9). Their latest album "Miracle Pill" was released in September 2019 and they will tour the UK in February 2020 to promote that album.
