From Red Bank, New Jersey, The band were almost named Dog of Mystery, Airport 75, Triple Bad Acid and King Fuzz; before settling on Monster Magnet, taken from the name of a 1960s toy. Band members Dave Wyndorf (vocals and guitar) who founded the group, John McBain (guitar) and Tim Cronin (vocals and drums). Since their formation in 1989 they have released 10 studio albums, the most recent being "Mindfucker" released in 2018. Cited influences include Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Blue Öyster Cult, Hawkwind, and Captain Beyond.
